Scope and Content The farmsteads within the glen display a range of layouts, from the strictly formal plan of the improved steading at Loss to the more haphazard arrangement of buildings at Ploverburn or Whittetsbank. The uppermost row are turf-built, and are probably the farmsteads of the poorest tenants. However, the contrast between, for example, Ploverburn and Little Jerah suggests that a similar range of status probably exist amongst the stone-built farmstead.
