Scope and Content Drawing in sketchbook made during a tour of Orkney and Shetland in August 1801, likely by James Skene of Rubislaw. Page 9: Titled 'Birsa Seat of the Earls of Orkney’. The view is from the Point of Buckquoy looking SE across the Bay of Birsay, with sailing boats and a rowing boat in the Bay, and a male figure with a shotgun and a retriever dog hunting duck in the foreground. There is smoke rising from two places on the far shore, probably from kelp-burning. Engraving published in 'The history of the Orkney Islands', G Barry 1805, pl5, opp p 32.
