Description Report: 'Proposed Wind Farm at Longpark, near Stow, Scottish Borders. Environmental Impact Assessment - Cultural Heritage'.

Date 25/11/2003

Collection Records of CFA Archaeology Ltd, archaeologists, Musselburgh, East Lothian, Scotland

Catalogue Number MS 5605

Category Manuscripts

Scope and Content This is the report of an environmental impact assessment of the effect of a proposed Wind Farm at Longpark, near Stow, Scottish Borders, carried out by CFA Archaeology, having been commissioned by Wind Prospect Ltd. 35 sites of cultural heritage significance were identified. A potentially significant direct effect is predicted in relation to one site. Mitigation measures have been proposed. It is possible that additional buried and unrecorded remains of archaeological significance survive across the proposed development area, particularly around the Halk Burn, which bisects the area. Within 10km of the proposed turbine locations are 9 Scheduled Ancient Monuments, 2 category A listed buildings or gardens, 6 Category B listed buildings, and one Conservation Area, which would be intervisible. This is a 38-page report, with 3 annotated maps (in duplicate) attached.
