Field Visit (20 March 1996)

NS95SE 11.08 9503 5518

The footings of a six-compartment building, probably a row of workers' cottages, survive in rough grassland on the E bank of the Mouse Water to the N of the rows described under NS95SE 11.06. Terraced into sloping ground on the ESE side, the building measures 38.4m in length by 5.9m in breadth over walls 0.7m thick and up to 0.5m high. It is depicted, roofless, on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire 1864, sheet xx.2).
