Archaeology Notes

ND49SW 16 4331 9066.

At ND 4331 9066 is a turf-covered burnt mound (2.0m high, 26.0m NW-SE, 22.0m NE-SW) which has been quarried revealing a few placed boulders in the SE presenting no intelligible pattern.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (ISS) 18 May 1973

The edge of the mound was cut through and removed due to field boundary realignments. The mound core was c.1m high and disturbed for a length of 16m. No structures or finds were visible in the burnt matrix. Records are lodged with the NMRS.
