Archaeology Notes

NT23NW 83 22015 37927.

(Location cited as NT 221 379). Kirkton Manor Mill, late 18th or early 19th century. 3-storey rubble building on L plan with an additional bay. 2 pairs of stones are driven by an all-iron, 6-spoke, high-breast bucket wheel, 4ft by 14ft diameter (1.22 by 4.27m).

3 storey rubble mill on an L-plan. The mill retains the greater part of its machinery, including the gear cupboard and 6-spoke iron waterwheel measuring 4x14ft in diameter.
