Note (1972)

ND25SW 18 c. 24 45 [sic].

There was a church of St Talore or Tarloc near to the village of Watten (ND 241 545).

(A MacKay 1914).

To the S of Greystones (ND 245 543), in Watten parish, is Knocktarloc - Tarloc's Knowe - (not noted in the Ordnance Survey Name Book [ONB]), but since Tarloc was a common Pictish name, it is not necessarily the site of his church. Tarloc, or Tarlogan, was a companion of St Donnan (d. 617).

(D Beaton 1909).

Information from OS c.1972.

Note (12 July 2020)

The location assigned to this record has been altered from ND c. 24 45 to ND c. 245 543. The two figures of the easting had been transposed in error, a point brought to our attention by a member of the public.

Information from HES (GFG) 12 July 2020.
