Lighthouse [NAT]

OS 1:10,000 map, 1983.

Formerly entered as ND23SW 16 and classified as Lighthouse.

At the entrance of the harbour sits a small octagonal lighthouse, dating from 1884.

(Lybster: location cited as ND 245 348). At end of breakwater: 1849. Tapering octagonal stone tower, with raised quoins. Gallery supported on two courses of corbelling, iron with cast-iron stanchions. Octagonal lantern on drum base, domical roof with ball ventilator.

During April 1999, RCAHMS conducted a photographic survey of the standing industrial heritage remaining in Lybster. The purpose of this survey was to enhance and augment the existing holdings of the National Monuments Record Scotland.
