In heather moorland immediately below the Military Road from Crieff to Dalnacardoch (NN84SE 8) which runs up the W side of Glen Cochill, and about 700m W of Scotstoun farmsteading, there is a group of at least sixteen subrectangular or oval shieling-huts. They are mostly constructed of stone, though several have been dug into sloping ground so that only on the inside is there a built face. They range in length from 1.6m to 8.5m and in breadth from 1.5m to 4m within walls measuring up to 2m in thickness. There is a short passage leading to the entrance of four huts (Braan93 376, 382-3, 386), flanked by banks which may be the result of the accumulation of midden material: in one case (Braan93 376) these banks are 4m long. Two huts (Braan93 385-6) have an outshot attached, of which one (Braan93 386) is also sub-divided into two compartments. The only other internal feature noted was an edge-set slab towards the N end of Braan93 382 which may have been part of a fireplace.
