The rifle range that is depicted on the 2nd edition of the OS 6-inch map (Lanarkshire, 1898, sheet xix.SW) was later extended by the construction of further butts (1913 revision, sheet xix.SW). These survive as three parallel banks on a S-facing slope 600m S of Gair farm.
