Excavated by members of the Anthropological Society of London in 1865.

Field Visit (9 May 1969)

At HP 5237 0476 there is a small burnt mound with hollowed centre, which, according to Mr Tulloch, (Mr T Tulloch, GPO Gutcher, Yell) is the "cairn" excavated in 1865.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (NKB) 9 May 1969.

Desk Based Assessment (1969)

HP50SW 9 5245 0472.

A ruined cairn was excavated in Harpa Dale (HP 525 046) by members of the Anthropological Society of London in 1865, (R Tate 1866), but there is no report of any discoveries.
