A small bing is preserved in a shelter belt about 500m ENE of Wester Dunsyston farmsteading. This site is not depicted on any early OS 6-inch maps, up to and including the revised edition (Lanarkshire 1913, sheet viii, resurveyed in 1910). The Mines Department however, records that Wester Dunsyston Pit No.2, whose workings were in this area and closed in 1916 (Mines Department 1931).
