(A: NC 9064 2254, B: NC 9067 2245, & NC 9065 2254) Settlement (NR)

OS 25"map, (1970)

In rising moorland with a south-westerly aspect are two hut circles (A and B), discovered during field investigation, (Information from OS (J M) 21 Feburary 1961 and (Information from OS (R L) 21 Feburary 1968), in association with a minor field system. The last, in an area masked by heather, is evidenced by sporadic mounds of stone clearance; cultivation plots are not discernible.

'A', set into the slope and well-preserved, stands to 1.4m in the N. It is 12.0m by 11.0m inside a robust wall spread to 3.0m broad in the W arc and at a clubbed entrance from the S, the latter on the line of the greater axis, reducing to 2.0m elsewhere.

'B', on a low rise and poorly-defined, is 13.0m N-S by 11.0m inside a much reduced peat-silted wall at best vaguely spread to 2.0m in the NE segment. A slight depression in the S quarter probably indicates an entrance.

At NC 90652254 adjacent to hut 'A' is a vague platform about 7.0m in diameter. It was formerly considered to be a hut circle (Information from OS (R L) 21 Feburary 1968) but it appears natural.

Hut B - Surveyed at 1:10 560.

Hut A - Surveyed at 1:10 560.
