Field Visit (26 September 1989)

NO56NE 28.02 centred on 5854 6665

About 50m N of the possible souterrain (NO56NE 28.1) are several small marks that may represent pits (NO 5854 6665). The pits are oval in shape and from 3m to 6m in diameter. A second group of smaller pits (2m to 3m across) is situated on the ridge to the SE (NO 5865 6660).

The outlines of a number of larger marks (not plotted), were also observed on the ridges; they tend to have hard rounded edges in some places, but a more fuzzy definition elsewhere. Their size so far as could be defined is about 10m to 15m across. Although it is possible that they indicate the position of houses it is likely that they are no more than natural features.

Visited by RCAHMS (PJD) 26 September 1989.
