Activities

Field Visit (16 August 1989)

NT13SW 53 1239 3019.

The remains of a cairn, with cist visible at its centre, are situated on the leading edge of a terrace overlooking the haughland 200m NNE of Stanhope Cottage. It measures about 12m in diameter by 0.6m in height, but most of the interior has been dug-out to reveal the cist. Only the two side-slabs are visible, set about 0.65m apart; the SW end-slab has been removed, but presumably the NE slab is hidden beneath the cairn material.

Visited by RCAHMS (SPH) 16 August 1989.

Sbc Note
