Amount of money expended on building Mansion House upon the entailed Estate of Monreith at Drumwhat in the Barony on Merton by Sir Wm Maxwell, Heir at present in possession of sd Estate at and preceeding the Term of Martinmas last. 1791 - of the building of which Mansion House due intimation were made on 7th and 9th days of march last 1791 in terms of Act sof Parliament past in the year 1768 for encouraging the improvements of lands held under settlement of strict entail in Scotland - in confirmity to which said Sir Wm Maxwell does intend being a Creditor to the succeeding Heir of Entail for three fourth parts of sums contained in the following:
August 30th 1791
Edward Creichton cut the ground.
Factor to Edinburgh to assist at contracting for building said house with Mr Alexr Stevens, Architect.
Paid Mr Stevens to account for masonwork and materials furnished by him per William Elliot his Foremen's receipt preceeding this date.
