Activities

Airborne Laser Scanning Interpretation (17 January 2022)

This field system, rig and buildings are situated on the S flank of Corly Craig, immediately NE of Markdhu farmsteading. They have been recorded on oblique aerial photographs (RCAHMSAP 1985) and are also visible on visualisations of elevation models derived from Airborne Laser Scanning data (Scottish Public Sector LiDAR (Phase 3) 2015-16). Field banks define at least four fields of differing sizes. Rig that is likely to be of post-medieval date is visible within the fields, along with the footings of at least two square or rectangular buildings. One field is depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Wigtownshire 1849, Sheet 6).

Information from HES Archaeological Survey (K. Millican) 17 January 2022.
