OS 6" map (1957)

The remains of a large circular cairn 50' in diameter. It has probably been entirely cleared out at centre and used as a dump for gathered stones.

RCAHMS 1912

Generally as described by RCAHMS this cairn is now abouut 1.0m high. The name is not in local use.

Resurveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (RD) 8 March 1968

This cairn is situated on the N slopes of Cruise Back Fell about 300m N of the fort that crowns the summit (NX16SE6). By 1911, when it measured about 15m in diameter, it had been severely robbed, but since then it has been used as a dump for field-cleared stones and now measures 20m in diameter by 0.7m in height.
