(NT 7671 7191) Sun Dial (NR)
OS 6" map (1959)
A possibly 17th century sun dial consisting of plinth, pedestal and heavily-moulded cornice topped by a small, cubical dial.
RCAHMS 1924
As described by the RCAHMS.
Visited by OS (WDJ) 4 April 1966.
Field Visit (19 August 1915)
Some 70 yards east of the church is a dial possibly dating from the 17th century (fig. 84 [SC 1126996]). From a moulded plinth, square on plan, rises a pierced pedestal with two pilasters on each face. These have moulded bases, neckings and capitals; above the latter a heavily moulded cornice or shelf swells out to a great projection and is surmounted by a small cubical dial.
RCAHMS 1924, visited 19 August 1915.
