(NT 7761 1186 - NT 7767 1195) Earthwork (NR)
OS 6"map, (1962).
This linear earthwork originates on a steep slope just N of the N fork at the head of Twise Hope and runs S from there along the base of the W face of Watch Knowe to the marshy ground at the head of the S fork. Its length is just over 200 yds, and it consists of the usual ditch and bank, though for much of its length it has been reduced to a terrace. Its S end approaches very close to but is not structurally continuous with NT71SE 20 (qv).
RCAHMS 1956, visited 1938 and 1946.
As described above.

Watch Knowe
Linear Earthwork
NT 77619 11925
This site was recorded as part of the Kale Water Survey project and is largely as described in the 1956 inventory on the date of visit. In addition to this turf bank which runs for a distance of about 115m from SW to NE (NT 77598 11869 to NT 77659 11965), there is a further length of bank to the NE. About 55m to the NE of the NE end of the earthwork, a bank measuring 32m in length runs from SW to NE, toward the summit of Watch Knowe (NT 77696 12007 to NT 77718 12029).
For the earthwork immediately to the SW of the SW end of the earthwork see NT71SE 20.
