Accessing Scotland's Past Project

Nineteenth-century accounts report that a hammerstone, possibly manufactured from quartzite, was found in the vicinity of Brotherstone. The object's current location is uncertain: it was on loan to the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland in 1894, but the following year it was recorded in the collection of its owner, Mr T Scott.

Very little information is available regarding this artefact, but it is likely that the object was prehistoric in date.
