Activities

Field Visit (8 June 1955)

NT05SW 3 0240 5003.

This cairn was in a similar condition [cf. RCAHMS 1978] when seen in 1955.

Visited by OS (JD) 8 June 1955

Field Visit (April 1973)

NT05SW 024 500. The mutilated remains of what has been an imposing cairn composed of large and medium sized stones are situated 640m SE of the summit of Corse Law. Large hollows have been sunk into its upper surface, and several enclosures have been constructed round the base, including a sheepfold built against the SE perimeter; the result is that the original size and appearance of the cairn are uncertain, but it probably measured as much as 18m in diameter and at least 2.5m in height.

RCAHMS 1978, visited April 1973

Field Visit (12 February 1979)

NT05SW 3 0240 5003.

(NT 0242 5003) Cairn (NR)

OS 1:50000 map (1976)

This cairn is as described by the RCAHMS and, despite having been severely disturbed, is still well-defined.

Surveyed at 1/10,000.

Visited by OS (BS) 12 February 1979
