Cairn, Allt a’ Chaoruinn
Situated on a ridge between the Allt a’ Chaoruinn and Kyle of Durness, about ¼ m E of the road and 170 ft above it, and about 1/3 of a mile due S of where the road crosses the burn, is a cairn. It has a diameter of about 44 ft [13.4m] and height of 7 ft [2.1m]. A bare stone, chambered cairn approximately 14.0m in diameter and 1.6m high; early modern structures built of cairn material intrude on the NE periphery. The passage, in the SE, and the chamber have been partially cleared exposing in the former two sets of slightly displaced uprights, one with lintel slab in situ and the latter a single orthostat.
