Field Visit (August 1977)

Compston NS 957 759 NS97NE

A small laird’s house of mid-18th century date, now derelict. Fragments of 16th century mouldings incorporated into adjacent farm buildings indicate the former existence of an earlier building on the site; there are fragmentary remains of a dovecote some 50m NW of the house.

RCAHMS 1978, visited August 1977

(RCAHMS 1963, pp. 354, 397, Nos. 317 and 395)
