The traditional site of the residence of the Muschetts of Kincardine was a castle in the immediate vicinity of the churchyard, the walls and moat of which were visible in places not many years ago. The property passed to the Drummond family in the beginning of the fourteenth century. By 1714 the old Castle of Kincardine had gone into decay.

The site of the castle is marked by a very much spread mound, with a maximum height of c.1.5m, but too indefinite for survey, surrounded by a ditch, only the probable course of which can be defined with any accuracy. There are no traces of walls or building foundations.

The only visible remains of this castle are a low, irregularly-shaped mound about 30m across with traces of a possible ditch on its N and W sides.
