"The remains of a supposed ancient camp."

Information from revision Name Book, 11; Information from Rev Margetson, 1896 and from D Christison, National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS) to OS.

A parallel site to 'Camphill' (NS56SE 32), proved to be medieval by excavation.

H Fairhurst and J G Scott 1953.

This area is occupied by a series of golf greens which completely obliterate any trace of this earthwork. No surface finds.

Field Visit (7 July 1954)

Earthwork, Byres Hill (Site).

The OS map marks an earthwork on the summit of Byres Hill at a height of 178 feet OD, but all traces of the structure have been obliterated by the construction of a golf course.
