Activities

Desk Based Assessment (22 January 2018)

Nothing is now visible in an area of modern housing of the transit sheds that were built on the east pier of the West Harbour in 1859 to serve the Steamboat Quay. The single-storey sheds had cast-iron columns that were ornamented on the SW, public-facing side. In the 1950s the sheds and an adjoining two-storey office block (NS27NE 98.01) were converted into the Clyde Passenger Terminal. They were destroyed by fire in the 1980s and subsequently demolished.
