Archaeology Notes

NR89NW 45 8283 9761.

(NR 828 976) Three small erect stones 23' SW of the central standing stone of the group (NR89NW 3) are the remains of a sepulchral cist' referred to by Greenwell (1868).

M Campbell and M Sandeman 1964; W Greenwell 1868.

NR 8283 9761. These 3 stones (the largest measuring 1.0m x 1.0m x 2.0m) stand 0.5m apart and are clearly not the remains of a cist. They may, however, be the remains of a kerb cairn similar to NR89NW 40 but there are insufficient stones to confirm this.

Resurveyed at 1:2500.

Visited by OS (IA) 25 April 1974.

The New Statistical Account (NSA) notes 'urns' found in cairns in the Kilmartin Valley.
