There is a burnt mound a quarter of a mile N of the broch at West Houlland.

A burnt mound, 1.5m high, situated close to a stream.

Published survey (25") correct.

Field Visit (12 June 2010)

This grass-grown burnt mound, which stands on the N side of a stream immediately S of Hestaford farmsteading, measures up to 13m from N to S by 12.2m transversely and 1m in height. The flat-topped mound comprises a mass of small angular fragments of stone.
