Activities

Field Visit (16 April 1974)

NR39SE 43 3876 9292.

NR 3877 9292 Situated on top of a heather-clad hill are the grass-covered remains of a cairn. It measures 16.0m in diameter and around its edge are fifteen kerb stones. The interior is stony and disturbed but just off centre is a probable cist comprising a large flat slab 1.5m by 0.9m and 0.4m high which appears to be supported by small stones and beneath which is a hollow.

Surveyed at 1/2500.

Visited by OS (BS) 16 April 1974

Measured Survey (May 1977)

This cairn was surveyed by plane-table and alidade at a scale of 1:100. The plan was redrawn in ink and then published at a reduced scale (RCAHMS 1984 Fig. 55A)

Field Visit (May 1977)

NR 387 929. On the N end of a broad ridge 650m ESE of Milbuie, and at a height of about 147m OD, there are the remains of what was originally a large cairn; roughly circular on plan, it measures 16m in maximum diameter over a kerb of boulders, and in spite of stone-robbing is still about 1m high. Near the centre, in a mass of disturbed cairn material, there is a large stone slab, up to 0.25 m thick, which may be the capstone of a cist.

RCAHMS 1984, visited May 1977
