Field Visit (November 1983)
NO99NW 23 903 969 to 903 971.
A hut-circle with a scatter of cairns and stony banks is situated on a narrow strip of rough pasture to the N of Cairnwell steading. The hut-circle (NO 9040 9705) measures about 7.5m in diameter within a stony bank up to 1.8m thick and 0.4m high, and the entrance is on the ESE. There are at least fifteen cairns, which vary from 2m to 4m in diameter by up to 0.6m in height.

Measured Survey (1984)
The hut circle and field systems at Cairnwell were surveyed by RCAHMS in 1984 at 1:2500 using EDM for control. The survey drawing was reproduced in ink on a national grid background.
