Archaeology Notes

NO99NW 23 903 969 to 903 971.

A hut-circle with a scatter of cairns and stony banks is situated on a narrow strip of rough pasture to the N of Cairnwell steading. The hut-circle (NO 9040 9705) measures about 7.5m in diameter within a stony bank up to 1.8m thick and 0.4m high, and the entrance is on the ESE. There are at least fifteen cairns, which vary from 2m to 4m in diameter by up to 0.6m in height.
