Field Visit (February 1982)

Catterline, Old Parish Church and Burial-ground NO 867 784 NO87NE

27

Nothing is visible of Catterline parish church, which stood within its burial-ground to the NW of the present village; it is first mentioned in the late 12th century and probably went out of use when the parishes of Kinneff and Catterline were united in 1719. Built into the

burial-ground wall there are an ogival-headed aumbry, probably of 16th-century date, and part of a medieval tombstone.

RCAHMS 1982, visited February 1982
