(NO 7856 8099) Site of Chapel (NR)

OS 6" map, Kincardineshire, 1st ed., (1864)

This chapel, established ever since episcopacy was introduced, was burned down by the Duke of Cumberland in 1746 and of it no trace remains, but its site is still pointed out. It was dependent on Glenbervie Church. The chapel is mentioned in 1536, and the well of St Carran (NO78SE 11) probably indicates the dedication, though it is said there was a Chapel of St Conon at Drumlithie (Scott et al 1915-61).

Name Book 1864; H Scott et al 1915-61.

No trace. No further information regarding dedication.

Visited by OS (R L) 9 December 1969.
