Field Visit (March 1982)
Longside Hill NO 637 780 NO67NW
On the SE flank of Longside Hill, at a height of about 280m OD, there are two hut-circles set 50m apart. The WNW one measures 11m in diameter within a wall 1.4m thick; the interior has been dug into the slope on the NW, and there is an entrance on the ESE. The interior of the other, which measures 9m by 8m, has also been levelled into the hillside, and its entrance is on the SE. About 100m to the W (NO 636 780), in a gap in the later field-system that encloses the lower slopes of the hill, there is a group of twelve small cairns.
