Field Visit (March 1982)

Longside Hill NO 637 781 NO67NW

This farmstead is situated on the SE-facing slope of Longside Hill, 380m NE of the junction of the East and West Burns of Cardowan. It comprises two rectangular buildings, the larger, measuring 15m by 2.3m internally, probably of turf construction; the second measures 8.5m by 2.2m within stone wall-footings. Adjoining the buildings there are traces of what may be an enclosure or additional structures, while to the SE there is an area of rig-and furrow cultivation, and on the adjacent hillside there are extensive remains of field-banks (see also NO67NW 4).

RCAHMS 1982, visited March 1982
