Activities

Field Visit (19 April 2017)

Nothing can be seen in an area now occupied by a recreation ground of a World War Two Barrage Balloon anchoring site, which is visible on an RAF photograph (CAM/014X 00905) taken on 20 October 1941 and noted in a document held by the National Archives at Kew (WO 166 7369).

This site was one of an extensive network of barrage balloons which protected the population and industry of central Glasgow and the Clyde from low flying enemy bombers.

Visited by HES (ATW, AKK), 19 April 2017.
