Field Visit (9 February 2010 - 12 August 2010)

A small quarry, annotated as ‘Whinstone Quarry’ is shown on the Ordnance Survey 1st Edition map (1862). The quarry is visible as a shallow depression, measuring 20 m long by 8 m wide and 0.5 m deep, in an improved pasture field. The depression has been partially filled with field clearance stones.
