Cultural Heritage assessment for the proposed Brunta Hill wind farm development. The assessment formed part of the Environmental Statement, submitted in 2011. The Cultural Heritage assessment identified all cultural heritage features within the study area, as well as key external receptors within 15km of the proposed development, and assessed the impact on these features by the new development.
The cultural heritage study sought to identify the cultural heritage baseline through desk-based assessment and walk-over reconnaissance field survey. Field visits were underaken between 9th and 11th February 2010 and on the 12 August 2010 across the study area.
Fifty-eight sites and features of cultural heritage interest, along with substantial areas of medieval or later cultivation remains, including former areas of rig and furrow and numerous large clearance cairns, have been identified within the study area. None of the recorded sites are of international or national importance.
