Archaeology Notes

HY64SE 9 6599 4179.

A mound of burnt stones partly destroyed, but still about 85' in diameter and 5'6" high, lies near the margin of a small loch about 1/4 mile NW of the farm of Newbiggings (HY 662 416).

In the course of demolition two upright stones approximately 4' high by 1' wide by 6" thick, with a third stone laid across them are said to have been exposed near the centre.

RCAHMS 1946, visited 1928.

A burnt mound, extensively mutilated by quarrying, located to HY 6599 4179.

Surveyed at 1/2500.
