Field Visit (2 November 2016)

Situated 130m E of the farmstead NG42SW 12.00 and 10m NE of an inlet is a rectangular building of a different and more recent character. Set below the cultivated ground and with its rear built against a rock-face, it measures about 6.5m from ENE to WSW by 3.5m transversely within lime-mortared stone walls 0.9m thick and up to 1.3m high. There is a doorway in the ENE end and a partition in the interior. This building is depicted unroofed on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Inverness-shire (Isle of Skye) 1882, Sheet XLIV). About 20 years later, when revisions to this map were made, the building was again shown as unroofed but of a larger size, and an L-plan building of which no trace was found on the date of visit is shown 35m to the WNW (1903 edition).

Visited by HES Survey and Recording (GFG) 2 November 2016.
