Activities

Field Visit (31 August 2016)

This blackhouse is situated on the edge of terrace just 20m S of the Allt Sgeiteadh and within an area of enclosed ground formerly cultivated by lazy bedding. It measures 7.8m from NNE to SSW by 2.9m transversely within stone walls up to 2.3m in thickness and 0.7m in height, and there is an entrance 0.6m wide in the ESE wall at the lower (NNE) end of the building. There are indications that an earlier structure underlies the NNE end, while the SSW end appears to have been rebuilt. A small pen has been constructed in the SSE corner.

Visited by HES Survey and Recording (GFG) and Forestry Commission (MR) 31 August 2016.
