Information from Orkney SMR

Field Visit (1999)

A crescent-shaped burnt mound is located on a sloping hillside, close to a small pool. It measures 25m in diameter and stands to 2m high. Burnt stone deposits, in a matrix of dark soil, are exposed in the sides of the mound. Recent embanking has served to contain the pool, possibly as a source of drinking water for cattle.
