This roughly L-shaped, seaweed-covered quay is situated on the SE side of the Ardmore peninsula about 375m SSE of Mid Lodge. It is constructed of boulders and measures 3.3m wide, 1m high and 60m in length from NNW to SSE, before turning E and continuing another 48m. The boulders have been disturbed at the NNW end giving the impression that the quay tapers SE. The quay was probably already ruinous when it was depicted on the 1st edition of the OS 6-inch map (Dumbartonshire 1865, Sheet XVII) and annotated ‘Old Quay’. It appears to have been partially refurbished on the E where there are the remains of what appears to have been an iron and wood walkway 1.8m wide, which was supported on stakes set in pebble and concrete-filled drums.
