Field Visit (4 June 2014)
The eastern landing on Eilean Mòr, Flannan Isles, was constructed during the second half of the 1890s, and facilitated the landing of materials and people during the construction and operation of the lighthouse, completed in 1899. Linked by concrete steps, the landing consists of four concrete stages set onto the cliff which provided a quay, the support for a crane, and the starting point for a tramway that led to the lighthouse itself.
