Activities

Field Visit (1996 - 1998)

There is a single oval structure c5m by c2m internally, aligned approximately E/W on the E bank of Alltan Glas. The walls are c0.5m wide by c0.5m high and partially turf covered. A large boulder has fallen inside the structure at the E end.

Shown as 'shealing' on 1837 survey and possibly still in use at this date. No other structures visible in this area. Suspected as possible still site.

MM records it as a solitary bothy; no obvious improved grazing in the vicinity but called a shieling on the Campbell-Smith estate map of 1837.
