Field Visit (14 April 1987)
What is probably the fragment of a medieval grave-slab is set into the frame above the N door to the walled garden at Balhary (NO24NE 64.02). It bears the incised outline of a Greek cross within a circle, with a penannular ring or horseshoe between each arm; the provenance of the slab is unknown. Over each of the two doorways on the S side of the walled garden there are reset lintels. Each is moulded and inscribed but they are of unknown origin; that on the E bears the date 1660 and that on the W, 1723.
