OS 6" map (1959)

The site of a souterrain discovered here in 1863 was pointed out by the farmer, Mr J Patullo. It is in a sandy knoll some 26 chains SW of Pitcur farmhouse and in the NE quarter of the field that abuts the parish boundary. Finds in it included fragments of 2nd c AD Samian pottery, now in the National Museum of Antiquities of Scotland (NMAS Accession nos: HD 1-4), pieces of rusted iron, and bones and teeth of animals. No surface indications of the souterrain now exist.
