A pair of Norse tortoise brooches, found in 1785 at Errol, Perthshire, are in the Perth Natur Hist Museum (Acc. nos: 1291 and 1292).
Grieg could not find any brooches from Errol in the Museum, but did find two tortoise brooches there - type 'Righ' 647 (Acc. nos. 1891 and 1892), which, according to Ritchie, the director of the Museum, were from 'Luncarthy in Perthshire'.

Note (21 December 1992)
There is considerable doubt as to where these brooches were actually discovered. Although they have been included in the RCAHMS (1994) gazetteer for South-east Perth, no other references are made to the brooches in the body of the text.
Information from Mr J R Sherriff (RCAHMS) 21 December 1992.
