'In digging near this place {Evelick Castle, NO22NW 4}, some tumuli were lately discovered, which contained human bones'.

Publication Account (1861)

In cultivating the field at the north side of this (Evelick) Castle, some years ago the workmen discovered some stone coffins containing human bones etc. The place was pointed out to me by J McKercher, Schoolmaster.
